
He is the author of various books on the topic: Lessig was very preoccupied with the issue of law and technology and the way in which these affect copyright. Lessig performs within the Center for Ethics is related to the issue of "institutional corruption", and it focuses on a 5 year project that addresses institutional corruption in different institutional contexts. Lessig returned to Harvard for the positions he continues to hold today. Lessig was the Chair of Berkman Professor of Law in Harvard University until 2000, followed by a position in Stanford Law School where he established the Stanford's Center for Internet and Society.

Lessig worked within the University of Chicago Law School until 1997.
